Buddy Volunteer

Who is a Buddy?

A Buddy is someone who has a heart to serve individuals with special needs and help them learn about the love of Jesus. Students (high school) and adults are eligible to become buddies.

What does a Buddy do?

Sometimes all that is needed is for the buddy to be in the same room when the individual with special needs requires a little extra encouragement and guidance. Other times, a buddy will work closely with their friend with special needs, providing constant support so they can participate with their peers.

Every volunteer is trained before being placed with a child or youth with special needs. No buddy is ever left to “fly solo” until they are ready.

How much time is required of a Buddy?

Buddies volunteer during children and youth programing on Wednesday nights and/or Sunday mornings. A minimum of twice a month commitment (1st & 3rd or 2nd & 4th Sundays/Wednesdays) is required to join the buddy ministry. Buddies are also used during VBS and other seasonal programs.

Classroom Leader or Assistant

Who is a Classroom Leader or Assistant?

Classroom leaders are adults with a heart to serve children, students, or adults with special needs in a self-contained classroom. Classroom leaders are typically adults. Assistants can be adults or students.

What does a Classroom Leader or Assistant Do?

Some children and students with more significant needs cannot be integrated into the regular classroom setting. Classroom leaders, with the help of assistants facilitate a small group of differently abled children in a special needs classroom.

Every volunteer is trained before being placed with a child, youth, or adult with special needs. No volunteer is ever left to “fly solo” until they are ready.

How much time is required of a Classroom Leader or Assistant?

Leaders and assistants volunteer during children and student programing on Wednesday nights and/or Sunday mornings. A minimum of twice a month commitment (1st & 3rd or 2nd & 4th Sundays/Wednesdays) is required. Leaders and assistants are also used during VBS and other seasonal programs as needed.

Host

Who is a Host?

Hosts are individuals with a heart to serve children, students, or adults with special needs and their parent. Hosts are typically adults with excellent people-skills, a welcoming smile, and a flare for hospitality.

What does a Host Do?

Hosts will welcome students and parent into our venue weekly, help with the check-in/check-out process, nurture and encourage parents who have often had a rough morning, and are available as an extra set of hands if needed in the classroom.

How much time is required of a Host?

Hosts volunteer during children and student programing on Wednesday nights and/or Sunday mornings. A weekly commitment is best but not required to be a Host. Hosts are also used during VBS and other seasonal programs.
