Have you ever restored a piece of furniture? Beaten and worn, you look at it with its wobbly legs, scratched surfaces, and cracked pieces. Ugly! It’s just plain ugly! But somehow you see potential. If only you could fill in the cracks, sand it down, tighten a few screws, and give it a fresh coat of paint, it would be useful again – beautiful.
That is precisely what Jesus came to do. He came to take our tattered world and restore it to its original intent – the perfection of that which was in the Garden in the beginning. Restoration is found at the Cross of Christ Jesus. Just as Jesus is our Rapha (healer), He is our restorer. Once He has healed us from our sins, He begins to restore us day by day, piece by piece. He restores us emotionally and spiritually. He restores our relationships, our thought patterns, behaviors, and our actions.
One day He will bring about complete restoration to His people. In the mean time, will you pray along with your family at Warren for the rest and restoration that Jesus can bring if we open our hearts to Him in prayer and ask Him to restore our souls?
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. – Psalm 23:1-3
Restore us: Thank God for His restoring power. Ask Him to restore your soul today and give you peace as you look to Him. Ask God to lead His church to be a place of restoration and peace for lost souls.
