Mother's Day

“And I'm thankful to be able to celebrate the joy of this day in my family, even as I have been blessed with a good father, an earthly father who's now with the Lord, but also just the joy of being a dad every day. But every year when Father's Day rolls around, I'm always sort of amazed at the, well, the contrast and the difference between Mother's Day and Father's Day.”

“Today is Mother's Day. And I'm saying that for some of you men, if you don't know, you are way behind the eightball. You need to get going. Even if you're on your phone right now, I won't call you out. But Mother's Day is an interesting day because on the one hand, Mother's Day for many is exactly what it's meant to be. It's a day of joy and celebration. You're celebrating your mom. My mom comes to this church. She's here in these services.”

“We celebrate Mother's Day, and every time we walk that way, many of us have gone through the change of a loss of a mom, or there's a need to try to somehow express a deeper appreciation to a mom, but Mother's Day is a tender time.”

“You need to get going. Even if you're on your phone right now, I won't call you out. But Mother's Day is an interesting day. Because on the one hand, Mother's Day, for many, is exactly what it's meant to be. It's a day of joy and celebration. You're celebrating your mom. My mom comes to this church. She's here in these services. My mom was an incredible mother.”

“Those of you who are in Simmons Hall, we know you're here. We're thankful that you've come. I realize that's been an overflow for you. Those of you in the chapel, we're grateful that you are here as well because today is a very wonderful and special day. It is Mother's Day, and it is a day that has brought us together, many coming to be with mom, others having mom come to be with them, but we are thankful that you are here, and it's a very special day to honor our mothers.”

“Well, again, welcome to Warren Crossbridge. So glad you are here to worship with us today and celebrate this Father's Day. Guys, we gotta step it up. Mother's Day is packed, and Father's Day, the lake is packed. So we gotta work on that, man. We gotta work on that. But I'm so excited to be here and to celebrate that with you.”

“And then, of course, there are those who have tremendous yearning in their heart to have a child. And I knew, Connie and I together for seven years, the journey of infertility in our lives. And as we went through those Mother's Day experiences, she often expressed it in this way. She said, we have open hearts but empty arms.”

“And so I hope you guys will be able to adjust with us along the way. But we will give you some announcements. We will announce that going into that week. The good news is if you show up at 11 that day, you'll just miss about 15 minutes of worship. So just come on in anyways. And so 9 and 10.45. Today is Mother's Day, not just because Hallmark told us it was, but because it's a joy to honor our moms. I just want to say from me, your pastor, happy Mother's Day, moms. Y'all give it up for our moms.”
