Spiritual Warfare
What our pastors have said about Spiritual Warfare, drawn from messages preached across our campuses.
In their own words
“Number one, we must remember that spiritual warfare is reality, not a fantasy. Spiritual warfare is a reality, not a fantasy. Though spiritual warfare is in an unseen world, it does not lessen the significance nor the visibility of the impact of that war going on in our lives and in the world around us.”
David H. McKinley · Standing in this Present Darkness“We'll fight the wrong front. This is especially important in spiritual warfare.”
Joseph Humphreys · Choosing Resilience Beyond Ruin“You know, half the battle in spiritual warfare is knowing that there's warfare going on. And so you've got to understand that when you are tempted, it's spiritual warfare. And you've got to understand the mechanics of the battle, who your enemy is, the source of your temptation, so that you can begin to resist it.”
Joseph Humphreys · The Truth About Temptation“And what we think we're going to do and what we hope to accomplish is to show you how spiritual warfare played a very real part of Paul's thinking and Paul's action. And we want to trace these themes so that we can learn about spiritual warfare and we know in our own walks how to resist the schemes of the devil. So let me start and let me read and then we'll begin to break it down.”
Joseph Humphreys · Guarding Against Satan's Schemes“It didn't occur to him that there would be spiritual encounters that he wasn't prepared for. Spiritual warfare that he was undergoing. It didn't occur to him that he was going to a place where there were no churches. Therefore, how can you nourish yourself whenever you don't have a church to go to? You have to learn to nourish yourself in your own time in God's word. And so we spent a week training and preparing Ashton, and it was a joy. He was a blonde-headed surfer-looking dude, 21 years old, green and eager.”
· Week 2“It's making the flesh weak and it's making our spirit strong. And so we're able to make our flesh submit to us as we practice the spiritual disciplines. What I need you to understand is that the spiritual disciplines are warfare. They're not just something that you should do because you're a Christian. They are an exercise in warfare.”
Joseph Humphreys · Growing in Dependence on Grace“That we're to be skilled in spiritual warfare and that we're to have grit as we face attack and thwart attack. So we're to be strong.”
Joseph Humphreys · Characteristics of Commitment“Then be sure to use intentional language in your discipleship game plan and always weaving in. Do y'all remember the RPW? Maybe write this down. RPW? I feel like that's a good, so to say, it sounds like a weapon that would be used in warfare, where an RPG is, right, that would be used in warfare. We use our spiritual RPW reps, reading, praying, and worshiping. And I just encourage you to continue to read and pray and worship in your home, in your household, and let your kids catch you doing that and invite your kids into that.”
