Encourage – From God Hater to Forgiven Daughter

At the end of April our Women’s Ministry hosted an outreach dinner. Many of you came and were blessed by the worship, prayer, relationship building, and testimonies from the evening. We called it Encourage, and it was indeed a night of encouragement and inspiration.

The word encourage means to spur on, to give support, confidence or hope, to inspire.

The purpose of this event was to speak life and breath into the lives of women – women who are tired and weary, fearful and anxious – filled with joy and some with grief. There were women there who were desperate and in need of a word from God, some who needed prayer, some who needed to praise God in the midst of their storms. Still there were others who didn’t even know the living God and by the time they left they had been introduced to Him and the seed planted.

The entire evening was like a breath of fresh air to me, but one of my favorite moments was the cardboard testimonies. God placed 12 women on my heart to ask to share a brief testimony on cardboard. Their job was simply to hold the front side of the card up which explained their particular heartache (in one sentence), then turn it over and proclaim the way God acted on their behalf to give them a testimony for His glory. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place!

I want to take the next several weeks and let these 12 speak a little life and breath in you. I want to allow them to tell their stories in a bit more detail and encourage you. Perhaps you or someone you know can relate to one or more of these testimonies. I would challenge you to share this post with them with the prayer that their heartaches can be turned into a God-sized miracle like each of these.
