Read … Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! Psalm 139:23-24
Remember … You, and only You, Lord, search and know hearts. You are pure, holy, and blameless. Your ways are perfect, and You are the everlasting God.
Reflect … Thank You for searching my heart and knowing me intimately, Lord. Thank You for not leaving me the way I am but for continually transforming me into Your likeness.
Renew … Lord, show me today where my heart is not pure and holy, so that I can more fully love and serve You without hindrances. Please lead me to Your perfect ways and keep my heart from things that don’t please you – deceit, hatred, envy, strife, bitterness, unforgiveness, and the like. In Jesus’ name, amen.
At no other time in prayer does the believer look so carefully at his own
spiritual growth as during confession.
