One of God’s many attributes and names is Jehovah-jireh.
Inherent with this name and character of God is His desire
to provide for His people. In Hebrew, jireh means “to see.”
When paired with God’s covenant name, Jehovah, this
name literally means that Jehovah will see to it. He sees
and foresees. He is omniscient—He sees our beginning and
our end—and He makes provision for us in light of who He is.
In Genesis 22, at just the right moment, God provided Abraham with a ram so that he would not have to sacrifice His son. The fact that Jehovah-jireh saw Abraham’s desperate need and supplied for his need, on that day and in that moment, illustrates the truth of God’s unfailing love and care for His people. This illustration was but a foreshadowing of God’s ultimate provision when He provided us with the perfect sacrificial lamb—His Son, Jesus.
God saw us in our sin and made the perfect provision for us. This means that we can rest in the fact that Jehovah- jireh will see to our needs. He will provide for our needs, plan our way, make a way, and take care of us—just as He provided for our salvation, planned for it, and made a way for it through Christ. Isn’t that a comforting reality?
God will see to it, and He will see to you. Think about that as you pray for the needs of yourself and others today. Jehovah, the self-existent, covenant-keeping God, promises to make the best way and provide in the best way for you and those who are His. Pray confidently and take refuge in this comforting character of God.

A prayer for today …
I praise You today as my provider. Every true need that I have, You will be faithful to meet. Please forgive me for going to other people or other places to have my needs met. Thank You for always providing exactly what I need, when I need it. You never fail! In Jesus’ name, amen.
Have a blessed week!
